Eligibility for Tourist Visa
Tourist visas are granted to foreigners whose sole objective is recreational, sightseeing, casual visits to meet friends or relatives, etc. No other activities are permissible on a tourist visa.
A tourist visa can be granted for a period not exceeding 5 years with multiple entries. The stay during each visit shall not exceed 180 days.

The Indian Missions/Posts may provide a visa for travel within 48 hours of application in urgent scenarios.
